Ask your MP to protect renters during the pandemic
We need your help to protect renters affected by coronavirus (COVID-19).
Two thirds of private renters have no savings, and four weeks' statutory sick pay is just £377. This means renters who are unable to work due to coronavirus - whether they have to self-isolate or get laid off - will struggle to pay the rent.
We're calling for:
- An immediate freeze on Section 21 no-fault evictions and Section 8 evictions for rent arrears.
- Access to Housing Benefit immediately, rather than after a 5 week wait. Housing Benefit must cover the cost of rent.
- A ban on rent rises for the next 12 months, to prevent landlords raising the rent above what people can afford.

Generation Rent’s mission is that every home in the private rented sector is safe, secure and affordable.
