Ask your MP to protect renters during the pandemic

We need your help to protect renters affected by coronavirus (COVID-19).

Two thirds of private renters have no savings, and four weeks' statutory sick pay is just £377. This means renters who are unable to work due to coronavirus - whether they have to self-isolate or get laid off - will struggle to pay the rent.

We're calling for:

  • An immediate freeze on Section 21 no-fault evictions and Section 8 evictions for rent arrears.
  • Access to Housing Benefit immediately, rather than after a 5 week wait. Housing Benefit must cover the cost of rent.
  • A ban on rent rises for the next 12 months, to prevent landlords raising the rent above what people can afford.
